Who we are
The mission of the Zagreb University of Applied Sciences is to train students to become highly-qualified experts in the area of technical activities and to compete successfully in the labour market. The Zagreb University of Applied Sciences fully relies on its teachers and associates in carrying out its study programmes. They are highly qualified experts, especially those coming from the entrepreneurship area, providing students with valuable practical knowledge. Teaching methods applied are diverse and creative and they include the obligatory practical work in every study programme. The practical work is performed in eminent companies. While being there students take an active part in current projects, perform various tasks and solve problems.
Study programmes at the Zagreb University of Applied Sciences are organized in accordance with the Rule book, each semester is enrolled separately and students’ work is continually supervised (exams, homework, etc.). Th ere is also a possibility for students to be exempted from taking the fi nal exam, depending on the results achieved during the semester. Teaching at the Zagreb University of Applied Sciences is bound to the latest technologies (giving power-point presentations, teaching materials being available on the Web pages, using e-mail to contact teachers…). Apart from giving lectures, the following teaching activities are also carried out:
- Exercises are performed in modern laboratories at the Zagreb University of Applied Sciences (8 PC labs and 4 specialized labs) and in the laboratories of highly esteemed companies and institutes

Students at the Zagreb University of Applied Sciences are partners in the education process. They take part in the activities of the Students’ Association (www.sztvz.hr). Students’ representatives are elected to help improve studying and they take an active role in the Departments’ Councils. The Zagreb University of Applied Sciences carries out four first-cycle study programmes – in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, IT technologies and Computing. Upon Completion of a study programme students are awarded 180 ECTS credits and a title of:
- Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering,
- Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering,
- Bachelor of Engineering in IT Technologies and
- Bachelor of Engineering in Computing
Having finished a first-cycle study programme at the Zagreb University of Applied Sciences or a similar study programme at another HEI in Croatia or EU, students can enroll in one of our second-cycle four semester study programmes – in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering and IT technologies. These studies are carried out as part-time studies.
Most students enrolled in our second-cycle study programmes are already fully employed and the part-time character of the study suits them perfectly. On the other hand, being fully employed, they do not have some students’ rights (cheaper transport fares, discounts in university cafeterias, etc.)
Upon completion of a study programme students are awarded additional 120 ECTS credits and a title of:
- Master of Engineering in Electrical Engineering,
- Master of Engineering in Civil Engineering and
- Master of Engineering in IT Technologies.
Diploma Supplement is issued in English language, given automatically and free of charge to every student upon graduation (examples in English and Croatian language: DS – bachelor & DS-master1 (3484))
